Sentinel

Sentinel is a two part series of horror novels, created and written by Jeffrey Konvitz about a gate to hell, located at a New York City apartment building and it's consecutive guardians, selected by the Catholic church. It starts with the 1974 The Sentinel, followed by the 1979 "The Guardian" (in the UK published as "The Apocalypse" & "Sentinel II")
