Manhattan respectively Manhattan Verlag is an Imprint of Wilhelm Goldmann Verlag, München, which belongs to Verlagsgruppe Random House GmbH.
Mahattan was designed by Goldmann's then chief editor Ulrich Genzler as a label for publishings in trade paperback format (in Germany called just "Paperback" in contrast zu standard sized and mass-market paperbacks, which are called "Taschenbuch" [pocket book]), In 2000, the Manhattan concept was changed to publish mainly hardcover editions, although there were still paperback editions too.
Paperbacks were sometimes labeled Goldmann Manhattan.
Publishings credit Hans-im-Glück-Verlag, München for the permission to use the label Manhattan.
