Thomas Nelson is a publishing firm that began in West Bow, Edinburgh, Scotland in 1798 as the namesake of its founder. (The founder's name was actually Neilson, but he changed it to Nelson owing to many errors made by his customers). In 1835 it became Thomas Nelson and Son and, in 1839, Thomas Nelson and Sons. It was incorporated in the early 1900s as Thomas Nelson and Sons Ltd.
It is now a subsidiary of HarperCollins, the publishing unit of News Corp.
