NotesOmnibus collecting almost all of Maurice Level's fiction which has been translated into English. The novel "The Grip of Fear" (1911) was translated by Alys Eyre Macklin. The first 26 stories in "Tales of Mystery and Horror" are taken from the collection "Crises: Tales of Mystery and Horror" (1920), translated by Alys Eyre Macklin. The next six stories in "Tales of Mystery and Horror" are taken from the collection "Tales of Wartime France" (1918), translated by William L. McPherson. The remaining seven stories in "Tales of Mystery and Horror" are previously uncollected. The novel "Those Who Return" (1923) was translated by B. Drillien.
