| Notes | The first book that contained all research (up to that time) of Billboard magazine's Album Rock and Modern Rock charts. Both charts have their own sections, telling the history of them. The Album Rock section features all titles and artists that debuted from its first chart (3/21/81) to August 26, 1995; while the Modern Rock section starts with its first chart on 9/10/1988. This was the only edition to: -have Top 40 Tracks By Year sections -call the Album Rock tracks section by that name (the chart would be renamed "Mainstream Rock Tracks" in 1996) -feature "The Branches of the Rock" section (page 285), which lists subgenres of rock up to that time Rock Tracks would be updated two more times, the most recent edition came out in 2008. |
