| Notes | Record Research's flagship book, Top Pop Singles, was updated for the first time since 2002. This was the first edition: - to include 'non-charted songs and artists' in the book. Several acts that have been absent from Top Pop Singles books (because they never charted on the Pop chart) were now included, such as the Velvet Underground, Husker Du, and the Sex Pistols. Hundreds of non-charted songs (including, for only this edition, some "Bubbling Under" titles) were featured under the artists' listing, including songs from several classic-rock and pre-rock artists. - to separate artists' main and 'Featured' hits - that decade and all-time artist rankings were shown directly to the right of the artist name - to include notes about awards for songs and artists (including Grammy, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, etc.) - to add "The Honor Roll of Hits" section This was the only edition to have the Top Pop Hit Average feature, as well as noting CD compilations (that feature their charted singles) for major artists. |
