| Notes | Beginning in the mid-1970s, New York City´s SoHo and East Village became a hot-bed of musical and artistic ideas. Owning to new property laws, Downtown New York and its many warehouse and loft spaces became the home of artists, bands, filmmaker, studios, art galleries and more. In this small area practically every musician was also an artist, every artist an filmmaker and every filmmaker was in a band. This scene is documented over a vibrant ten year period and the book includes pictures of JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT, DAVID BYRNE, SUICIDE, KEITH HARING, GLENN BRANCA, ESG, MADONNA, LAURIE ANDERSON, PHILIP GLASS, AFRIKA BAMBAATAA and hundreds more privously unseen photographs. |
