| Notes | First Edition. This translation is an abridged version of the original Japanese work. Fictionalized story of the life of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (豊臣 秀吉, born in 1536 or 1537, died 1598). Hideyoshi was a samurai and general under Oda Nobunaga, and succeeded Nobunaga. Hideyoshi largely completed the work of unifying Japan, bringing an end to the Warring States period (Sengoku period).
