Walt Disney's Comics and Stories

Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, also known as Walt's Disney Comics and sometimes abbreviated WDC or WDC&S, and soon to be renamed Disney Comics and Stories in September 2018, is a long-running anthology comic book series that stars an assortment of Disney cartoon characters, including Donald Duck, Scrooge McDuck, Mickey Mouse, Chip 'n Dale, Li'l Bad Wolf, Scamp, Bucky Bug, Grandma Duck, Brer Rabbit, Winnie the Pooh, and others. It is considered one of the "core four" Disney comic book titles, alongside Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Uncle Scrooge. It is also the longest-running Disney-based comic book in history, making it the flagship Disney comics title. Walt Disney's Comics was originally published by Western Publishing in its guise as K.K. Publications through No. 328, January 1968, and was published by Western under its own name after that, until No. 510 in 1984. Walt Disney's Comics was never published by Dell, but all issues bore the Dell label from No. 93, March 1948, through No. 263, August 1962. Subsequent issues were published under the Gold Key label. Walt Disney's Comics was issued in two editions, starting with No. 351, December 1969, through No. 360, September 1970. There was a twenty-five-cent edition that contained a poster, in addition to the regular fifteen-cent edition. Walt Disney's Comics, unlike most other comic books, was published in annual volumes, beginning with Vol. 1, No. 1, October 1940 — a carryover from the numbering system of its predecessor, Mickey Mouse Magazine. A new volume thus began each year with the October issue. The whole-issue number, as given in this listing, was usually found on the front cover, or in the code numbering at the bottom of the first page (for example, "WDC #100 - 491" means Walt Disney's Comics No. 100, January 1949). More recently, it was also included in the indicia.
