| Notes | In 1975, the producer Fernando Tibiriçá and his production crew TRINKA, launched the BANANA PROGRESSYVA Festival, which became a platform for the release of new bandas and the set of tour festivals in the subsequent years. This first festival happened in 4 days at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation Theatre in Sao Paulo city. In times of military dictatorship, young brave rockers came out in streets to join this festival, among hare krishnas and police force standing in the front of the venue, the scene of an era. This festival brought and ecletic cast with young and mature talents and resulted in a true succes event, being remembered till these days. Fernando is a very successful producer responsible for the launch of several major brazilian artists in Sao Paulo city starting since the early Seventies. With the repercussion of the BANANA PROGRESSYVA festival, he got escalated to bring the ROLLING STONES to Brazil in the same year, but unfortunately, dictatorship made it hard to happen, leaves the Stones to miss this opportunity. The brazilian designer Billy Gibbons (yes, namesake of famous guitarist com ZZTOP but in fact, brazilian Billy was born before the famous bearded one), has designed this fantastic banana in space among of many of pop culture this influences at the time. Billy has previous worked on Antonio Peticov´s POSTERSHOP in the Sixties, and met fantastic illustrator Alain Voss during that time. Billy had a memorable career later as Art Director in Sao Paulo advertising, winning several prizes. One particular taste he once declared to his friend, was that he loved so much the movie Yellow Submarine from the Beatles, that we would ocasionally decorate his office or the entire floor of the Advertising Agency with pyschedelic motives. Billy is also a fan of rock, specially Jimi Hendrix, and he used to play bass with his own band for some years, but he confesses drawing and painting made his career move on. Bands represented: SOM NOSSO DE CADA DIA, VELUDO, BANDOLIM, QUARTO CRESCENTE, VÍMANA, BURMAH, MONTANHAS, EDSON MACHADO & A RAPAZIADA, BISCOITO CELESTE, ERASMO CARLOS & CIA PAULISTA DE ROCK, TERRENO BALDIO, HERMETO PASCHOAL, A BOLHA, MANITO, A BARCA DO SOL, JAZCO. |
