From the artist: Before Jack released Lazaretto, Rob was sent a lyric sheet that we poured over for potential print ideas. One thought that came to mind early on was a diver's helmet. Partly because of its connection to isolation and also because of the ideas I read from the tracks Alone In My Home and Temporary Ground. Eventually, I pieced together this idea that the helmet itself was an isolation tank that once sat at the bottom of the ocean. The helmet now sits alone in the drifts of sand from a dried up ocean; an indicator that a great deal of time has passed. The child writing is a comment on the ability to work and create, in spite of life's disturbances. One final note: It's always a thrill to be in the country or an undisturbed place where the stars are more visible in the night sky. I opted to present them this way here... -TS |
