| Notes | BGF-614 From the artist: This was a huge gig for me at the time. I had only made a few posters at this point but felt I was ready to make a print for the Fillmore. I sent a tube of prints to Arlene (the longtime art director) and basically begged her for a gig. I remember her telling me I had the weekend to come up with something but if she didn’t like it she’d go elsewhere. Ultimately, my desperate pleas and repeated phone calls paid off. “Float On” was just hitting radio play when I made this, and ended up inspiring the image. I think seeing Robert Cottingham’s huge paintings of type writers earlier that year made me want to make own typewriter print as well. -TS |
