Every show they played on the tour was Wonka themed and the prints aimed to match the band's vision. For mine, I turned my focus to the everlasting gobstopper and built the image outwards from that. Sidenote: I wish there were actual candies sold in this shape. I saw my friend Zoltron had already done a fantastic likeness of Gene Wilder for his print and I opted to create a symbolic representation of him as an emperor tamarin monkey. In some weird way their expression, energy and mischief symbolically capture some of Wonka's spirit. For this print, I experimented with a stippled technique and there are quotes from the film in each corner. |
