| Notes | By artist Miles Tsang for the final six shows of the Nine Inch Nails tour @ the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Calf on December 7, 8, 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2018. The piece takes inspiration from the band's recent triad of EP releases (2016's Not The Actual Events, 2017's Add Violence and 2018's Bad Witch) as well as my favourite strands of semi-related pop culture ranging from Westworld to Tetsuo: The Iron Man. Like the trilogy, this poster is an artistic reaction to the anxious, divisive, and seemingly self-destructive times we are currently living through and also functions as a sequel to my previous NIN poster from 2014, combining my distorted take on Caravaggio's Narcissus (a painterly parable warning of the dangers of vanity) with another violent personal work, the combination itself a reference to the band's creative technique of re-interpolating past industrial sounds and vintage effects into new and alien-like compositions imbued with fresh and frightening new meaning on these recent releases. |
