NDR Fernsehen is the regional television program of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk, which is produced together with Radio Bremen for the states of Hamburg, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. The program directorate, many editorial offices and the broadcast management are located in Hamburg-Lokstedt.
On January 4, 1965, the NDR, together with Radio Bremen and the former station Freies Berlin (SFB), started broadcasting its own third television program, initially as the "Third TV Program NDR / RB / SFB" for the states of Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Bremen and for West Berlin. On December 3, 2001, the program was renamed NDR television.
