ORF Universum

Universum is ORF's weekly documentation channel. The first Universum program was broadcast on September 29, 1987, and since then the program has been shown on Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m. on ORF 2. Due to the success of the series, a program has also been broadcast on Thursday, March 5, 1998, every Thursday at 9:05 p.m. Since the beginning of the 1990s, Universum has dealt with the most diverse areas of nature and historical topics under the head of the department, Alfred Payrleitner and the person responsible for the show, Walter Köhler. The main focus is on documentation about the flora and fauna. In parallel with the television series, the magazine Universum is published ten times a year with a circulation of 55,000 copies.
