Ettore Scola

Ettore Scola was a writer and director. He was married to Gigliola. President of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 1988 Directed one Oscar nominated performance: Marcello Mastroianni in Una giornata particolare (1977). Father of assistant director/writer Paola Scola and writer Silvia Scola. Former law student. Began in films during the early 50's, writing comedies, often in conjunction with Ruggero Maccari. When he was only 16, he began ghostwriting for the comic actor known as Toto.
