Mariangela Melato

Mariangela Melato was an Italian actress. Listed among the greatest Italian actresses, she began studying acting under the guidance of Esperia Sperani. After years of theater in which she worked with Fantasio Piccoli, Dario Fo, Luchino Visconti and Luca Ronconi, she made her film debut with Pupi Avati in the horror film Thomas e gli indemoniati. The success came in the seventies, for participation in dramatic films and successful comedies, especially for the artistic collaboration with Lina Wertmüller and Giancarlo Giannini in grotesque comedies: Mimì metallurgico ferito nell'onore, Film d'amore e d'anarchia e Travolti da un insolito destino nell'azzurro mare d'agosto. She always alternated her work between cinema and theater: she devoted herself more to the latter in the second part of her career, thinning out her participation in cinema and occasionally working for some television fiction.
