Gianni Minà is one of the fifty, one hundred cultural operators, communicators, or artists who conceived and affirmed, in Italy, television and its language. And he is one of the best-known Italian journalists abroad for his reports and documentaries often made in collaboration with international networks. He began his career as a sports journalist in 1959 at Tuttosport (of which he would later be director from '96 to '98). In 1960 he made his debut on Rai as a collaborator of sports services for the Rome Olympics. In 1965, after making his debut at the Sprint sports weekly tv news programme directed by Maurizio Barendson, he began making reports and documentaries for all the sections that have evolved the journalistic language of television. He has also produced, in over thirty years, a history of jazz in four episodes and programs on Central and South American popular music, as well as a sociological and technical history of boxing in 14 episodes entitled Faces full of punches.
