Mino Doro, stage name of Count Ermino Doro of Costa di Vernassino, (May 6, 1903 Venice, Veneto, Italy - May 12, 2006 Bellagio, Como, Lombardy, Italy), was an Italian film, television and theater actor.
Of noble origins - he belonged to a Venetian family of great rank and prestige - he attended the technical institute of his city and tried very young in various sports, including motoring, horse riding, skating and fencing. Fascinated by the world of entertainment, he made his debut in his early twenties in the theater having the privilege of working from the beginning with leading companies of the 1920s, such as Luigi Pirandello and Emma Gramatica.
Captivating, virile and burly, Doro had a certain resemblance to Clark Gable and, while continuing to play the role of villain very often, he conquered the female audience. He made a remarkable series of films both as a protagonist, such as Alessandro Blasetti's Vecchia guardia (1936), and with co-starring roles, as Romolo Marcellini's Inviati speciali (1943). During the decade that goes from his first successful film until the fall of fascism on 25 July 1943, Doro had a notable fame even though he never came to be - like his contemporaries Nazzari, De Sica, Steiner, Cervi, Ninchi, Cialente, Centa, Celano, Giachetti and Valenti, and of the following Cortese, Girotti, Vallone, Checchi, Brazzi, Villa, Serato, Rimoldi - a true star; he remained, in the same way as Lupi and Toso, a successful actor who never really broke through and was, in some ways inexplicably, given his good interpretative ability, too marginalized and forgotten too soon.
