Fred Buscaglione, stage name of Ferdinando Buscaglione, was an Italian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor.
In the late fifties Fred Buscaglione was one of the most requested showmen, and not only as a singer. He was everywhere: in advertisements, on television and in films, first with brief singing appearances, then in autonomous roles, almost always embodying the figure of the nice braggart.
His activity became more and more frenetic: he made two or three films at the same time in the morning, recorded television shows in the afternoon, recorded records in the evening and sang in the night at night, moving aboard a showy American car, a Ford Thunderbird that he called "Criminally beautiful", like one of his songs. But the success also had unpleasant consequences for him since his wife Fatima, perhaps jealous of his success and the gossip that appeared on the magazines that painted him as a tombeur de femmes and that attributed him flirtation with the actresses with whom he acted, especially with Scilla Gabel and Anita Ekberg, ended up separating from him, who moved to the Rivoli Hotel in Rome.
Perhaps tired of his "hard" character, at the end of the fifties Fred began to record melodic songs, sometimes also written by other authors such as: Guarda che luna, Non partir (by Giovanni D'Anzi and Alfredo Bracchi) and Al chiar di luna porto fortuna (written by Carlo Alberto Rossi). Three weeks before his death, in an interview with the newspaper Stampa Sera, he expressed his intention to retire within two years, saying: "Before people turn their backs on me, Fred the hard will disappear, and I will be alone again Ferdinando Buscaglione ».
