Libero Bovio was a poet, writer, playwright, Italian journalist, author of lyrics of many famous songs in neapolitan language. Along with Salvatore Di Giacomo, Ernesto Murolo and E. A. Mario was an architect of the so-called "Golden Age of Neapolitan Song". He was also the author of plays, including Gente nosta, 'O professore,' O Macchiettista and also of songs with more dramatic tones than those that had given him fame, such as Lacreme napulitane, Carcere, 'E figlie, Zappatore, Guapparia. In 1934 he founded a new music publishing house, La Bottega dei 4, together with Nicola Valente, Ernesto Tagliaferri and Gaetano Lama.
