Ettore Gaipa

He made his debut in '47 staging Those of Stralsund by Stavinhagen. In the '47-' 48 season he began his collaboration with Giorgio Strehler and with the Piccolo Teatro company, initially as an actor and later as a playwright and scholar. It was he who translated Bertold Brecht's 'The Threepenny Work' and, in '59, published the first biography of Strehler, to whom he remained bound by deep friendship throughout his life. In the 60s he worked as a director at the Rostok Theater, in former East Germany, and also worked as a journalist collaborating with the newspaper l 'Avanti! from '58 to' 62.
