I Barrittas or, in certain record releases, I Barritas, were an Italian beat musical group active until 1971.
I Barrittas were born between Oristano and Santa Giusta in 1961 first with the name Gli Assi, then I Visconti and then Aces, to arrive at the end of 1962 to the name I Barrittas, from the Sardinian barrita, which means cap, referring to the typical headdress of the costume traditional Sardinian called precisely berrita. The name was adopted when the former circus playmaker Benito Urgu, whose nickname was precisely crossed out for his old stage hat, joined the group.
