Bruno Nicolai

Bruno Nicolai was an Italian film composer. Nicolai was trained in music by Goffredo Petrassi at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome; his career was very similar to that of Ennio Morricone, with whom he was well known. Both styles are so similar that at times an identity of the two composers was suspected. Until 1974 he conducted almost all of Ennio Morricone's soundtracks. Like Morricone, Nicolai combined elements of the classic film score with novel elements and thus created the typical sound that was heard especially in Italo-Western. He also worked a lot in the genre of Giallo and for Jess Franco and Alberto De Martino.
