Astral Media (only Astral as a brand name since May 2010) is a large Canadian media company. The company is headquartered in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The company is the largest radio station operator in Canada. The company operates around 83 radio stations in eight provinces, as well as some television stations. Astral developed through a photo company that was founded in 1961 under the name Angreen Photo. The company was founded by the Greenberg brothers from Montreal. In 1967, the brothers bought image rights from what was then the Expo in Montreal, which led to the rapid growth of the company to around 125 branches. A short time later, the company was renamed Astral Bellevue Pathé and later AstralTech. In 1973, the company began copying video tapes under the company name Astral Bellevue Pathé Limited. The company also produced its own film / television films and series. In 1983 the Greenberg brothers took over two PayTV television networks. The following years saw the expansion of the television network to include other stations. In February 2000, Astral Communications renamed the company to its current name.
