Renaud Monfourny spent his childhood in the countryside. From his adolescence he learned photography in a photo club in Soissons. He will go to Belgium to study photography at the Communal Institute of Decorative and Industrial Arts. At the same time, he trained as an autodidact in the history of art and photography. Back in France he taught photography at the Paris-Conflans School of Architecture, he was just 21 years old, the age of many of his students, and moved to Paris. He participated in the creation of several newspapers, one of which will last, Les Inrockuptibles, and he began to publish his photographs in the press. Since 2009, through a blog hosted on the Inrocks site, it has been echoing cultural news by photographing its actors, emerging or confirmed. New medium, new medium: he has transposed his writing into digital and color, with more than 2,200 photos published to date. At the same time, he continues his silver and black activity in 6x6 format. His photographs have been used for a large number of book and disc covers. His works are present in private collectors in France and abroad.
