Rare Bird are an English progressive rock group.
The group was founded in 1968 on the initiative of Graham Field, who places an advertisement in a music magazine to find other musicians; from the meeting with Dave Kaffinetti the Lunches are born which with the entry of Steve Gould and Mark Ashton become the Rare Bird.
Obtained a record deal with Charisma Records (label founded by Tony Stratton-Smith) they publish the first self-titled album.
The album comes, like 45 rpm, the song Sympathy, which becomes a worldwide success selling, over the whole 1970, over a million copies.
