Paul Kijzer (with Piet Meerburg also co-founder of the Film Museum predecessor) became owner of Hafbo in 1953. He was director of Hafbo in Amsterdam from 1956-1966. As of 1.11.1964 Hafbo signed a contract in Paris for distribution of all MGM films in the Netherlands. This contract expired on 1.11.1967 after a conflict over Hafbo's independence. After the MGM contract and the bankruptcy of Samuel Bronston, Hafbo was never successful again. Hafbo eventually went bankrupt.
