Gil Cuppini, born Gilberto Cuppini, was an Italian drummer and conductor.
He was one of the best known artists of Italian jazz music, active particularly in the fifties and sixties, also as a bandleader.
He had multiple and important artistic collaborations in his career with the major names in Italian jazz. We highlight those with Giorgio Gaslini, Giampiero Boneschi (with whom he formed a trio with Volontè in the fifties), Piero Umiliani, Glauco Masetti, Enrico Intra, Shirley Bunnie Foy, Bruno Aragosti, Sergio Coppotelli and Giancarlo Barigozzi. He then recorded several records with the Concert Jazz Band, founded in 1964, while at the end of his career he often performed with the Jazz Stars of Italy group organized by Lino Patruno with Romano Mussolini, Carlo Loffredo and Henghel Gualdi. Many live performances by Gil Cuppini in the Milanese jazz scene, and beyond, with musicians such as Oscar Valdambrini, Shirley Bunnie Foy, Giorgio Azzolini, Mario Rusca, Sergio Valenti, Paolo Tomelleri, Roberto Frizzo etc.
