Charles Borel-Clerc, Charles Louis Raymond François Clerc, is a French composer.
At the age of 21, he obtained a first prize as an instrumentalist which enabled him to gain access to the largest classical Parisian orchestras (Opera, Column Concerts, Lamoureux Concerts, etc.). But that's not to mention Charles' preference for the song that made him abandon classical music.
He became famous for his hit songs performed by Félix Mayol: Amour de trottin and La Mattchiche, a song that became a hit with his arrangements of music originally composed by Badia (1903). He also writes for Dranem: Pétronille, tu sens la menthe (1906) and Le Loup de mer (1910). For Bérard, with a dramatic text by Charles-Louis Pothier, he composed Le Train fatal, a melo to make Margot cry in 1916. At the end of the First World War, on texts by Lucien Boyer (1876-1942), composed "the second Madelon", La Madelon de la Victoire, followed by the great success that was Tu verras Montmartre! performed by Marcelle Bordas in 1922.
