Walter Baumgartner

Walter Baumgartner (born Walter Ernst Baumgartner) was a Swiss composer and jazz musician (pianist, trombonist). He has been writing film music since 1944. Baumgartner worked for many years as a board member of the copyright company SUISA and was particularly committed to the pension provision of the members. In 1956 he married Helen Vita. The marriage gave birth to two sons. The cameraman Peter Baumgartner is his nephew. The two were involved in several productions together.
