This Fox Video repressing removed the CBS/Fox related logos and replaced them with Fox Video, and added a chapter listing on the right side of the jacket, pushing the summary further over to left side of the back.
Jacket wrongly lists the running time as 127 minutes.
As is typical with the early widescreen titles, Die Hard has an aspect ratio of around 2.20:1, far short of the correct 2.39:1 ratio of the original prints. In addition, the left and right sides of the frame are not fully unsqueezed - so while the aspect ratio is wrong, all of the 'Scope image is present.
This was considered a stunning disc release at the time, but looking at it now, its color is shifted towards orange and not correctly saturated - the black levels are off too. Sound-wise, its still an excellent sounding disc and the only home video release with the original 2-channel Dolby MP Matrix mix used for the Dolby Stereo theatrical prints - plus the PCM sound is unlimited, unlike the Dolby A or Dolby SR theatrical prints. |
