NotesBoxset has a sticker on the front which states "MMM... All 22 Episodes on 4 Discs! Plus Tons of Special Features" The release is made up of two main parts, a die-cut slip case (of which the TV screen on the cover has been removed) and a 4 panel digipack case, which when slipped into the outer casing places popular characters from that season into the TV screen. This release includes a full colour 10 page booklet which contains information regarding each episode including credits, a short plot synopsis, original air date, scene selection, running time and any special features included with this release. Although the running times are given they usually are shorter than the running times found on the discs themselves. The information box on the release states that the only language on the DVD for all content is English, however the episode "Kamp Krusty" includes audio tracks in Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish (of which all these tracks are mixed down into Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo). These audio tracks can be switched to while watching the episode or by making the selection from the "Special Language Feature Kamp Krusty" extra. Listed as simply "Extras" here, the additional content included on this box set is spread around and is at times difficult to find. The "A Word From Matt Groening" featurette appears in the episode list on Disc 1, and not under the "More Extras" page. Clicking on the Extras button for each episode will give you the options to turn the commentary track on/off, set the language (which takes you to a screen which allows you to set the audio track and the captions/subtitle track) and choose a scene. Choosing the More Extras menu item at either the episode list or the extras page (per episode) will bring you to a menu which you can view all of the extras included on the DVD (except "A Word From Matt Groening"). The extra "Animation Showcase A Streetcar Named Marge" plays the same 9 minute 39 second clip from the episode each time but with different views of the animation process on the screen. The first three options place each of these different views into a picture-in-picture layout with which ever view selected appears as the main picture (e.g. Picture-in-Picture: Storyboards shows the storyboard as the main view, the completed episode in the bottom left box and the animatic in the bottom right box). This layout can be changed while the clip plays by using the Angle control. The other two featurettes (Animatic, Animatic with Illustrated Commentary) in "Art & Animation A Streetcar Named Marge" play a different 17 minute 5 second clip from the episode, however between these two featurettes the same 17 minute clip is played however a different audio track is played depending on the selection made. This format is the same for the "Animation Showcase Homer's Triple Bypass" and "Animation Showcase So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show". The "Animation Showcase Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie" uses a 7 minute 53 second clip. However only two angles are available. The Picture-in-Picture always appears in the bottom right corner. For the Deleted Scenes extras most of the clips shown are nearly complete - with some of them missing some audio sound effects or music. However colour, full animation and dialogue is present. Although you are unable to watch all of the deleted scenes back to back, you can watch the final episode with the deleted scenes included. The disc menus feature different Simpsons characters, which animate when a menu selection is made. The characters are: Disc 1: - Abe "Grandpa" Simpson (Homer The Heretic) - Barney Gumble (Animation Showcase A Streetcar Named Marge) - Homer Simpson (Episode List/Main Menu) - Kang and Kodos (Special Language Feature Kamp Krusty) - Krusty The Clown (Kamp Krusty) - Lisa Simpson (Lisa The Beauty Queen) - Marge Simpson (A Streetcar Named Marge) - Moe Szyslak (Art & Animation A Streetcar Named Marge) - Professor Frink (More Extras) - Sideshow Bob (Language Selection) Disc 2: - Barney Gumble (Mr. Plow) - Bart Simpson (Lisa's First Word) - Edna Krabappel (New Kid On The Block) - Homer Simpson [as King Homer] (Treehouse of Horror III) - Itchy & Scratchy (Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie) - Krusty The Clown (Animation Showcase Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie) - Lisa Simpson (Episode List/Main Menu) - Marge Simpson (Marge Gets A Job) - Mr. Teeny (Commercials) - Professor Frink (More Extras) - Sideshow Bob (Language Selection) Disc 3: - Barney Gumble (Duffless) - Bart Simpson (Episode List/Main Menu) - Edna Krabappel (Brother From The Same Planet) - Homer Simpson (Homer's Triple Bypass) - Homer Simpson [as King Homer] (Deleted Scenes - Homer's Triple Bypass) - Lisa Simpson (Animation Showcase - Homer's Triple Bypass) - Marge Simpson (Marve Vs. The Monorail) - Mr. Teeny (Art & Animation Homer's Triple Bypass) - Professor Frink (Selma's Choice, More Extras) - Ralph Wiggum (I Love Lisa) - Sideshow Bob (Language Selection) Disc 4: - Abe "Grandpa" Simpson (The Front) - Edna Krabappel (Art & Animation So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show) - Homer Simpson (Marge In Chains) - Homer Simpson [as King Homer] (Deleted Scenes - The Front) - Itchy & Scratchy (Krusty Gets Kancelled) - Kang and Kodos (So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show) - Lisa Simpson (Whacking Day) - Marge Simpson (Episode List/Main Menu) - Mr. Teeny (Last Exit to Springfield) - Professor Frink (More Extras) - Ralph Wiggum (Animation Showcase So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show) Discs are encoded with Macrovision Copy Protection.
