"The MPD-4 is the MIDI Pad Controller that can control the MIDI device such as a MIDI rhythm machine, MIDI drum sound module, MIDI synthesizer, etc.
Up to three external pads (such as BP-1) can be used together with the MPD-4's.
Using the optional Footswitch (such as FS-5U) greatly widens the variety of performance.
Using the Footshitch and external pads, up to 8 different sounds can be played by the MPD-4.
If using a synthesizer as a sound module, the sounding time (=gate time) of the sound can be controlled with the MPD-4"
