No similar receiver existed in the upscale ES line at the time. i.e. ES receives didn't have SPDIF inputs or DSP, parametric EQ, etc. If you wanted these features at the tine in the ES line you were expected to purchase the TA-E1000ESD preamp, along with separate power amps (for five channels) and a radio tuner. The similar STR-D2070 model one step down in this model year was the same as this unit with the exception it did not support the on screen display or video title and illustration editing features of the STR-D3070.
