| Notes | the multitrak is a hands-off synthesizer from sequential-circuits (now dave-smith-instruments, DSI) from 1985. despite its obvious prophet-five-heritage soundwise, it does not have quite the possibilities and sound, partly due to the digital GUI, which of course only offers twitching things in a slightly quantized manner, partly due to different circuitry, but it still sounds fantastic. many a exemplar is missing its quite expensive symmetrical power unit and also often has damage due to battery problems, which often cannot easily be solved. for its time, it sports midi AND multi-timbrality with its six voices, layering, three envelopes - one for pitch, but only one very fat oscillator due to PWM, but saw pulse and triangle can be mixed moog-like! the keyboard is sturdy, though. there also is a little sequencer-mode AND - highlight-alarm! - an arpeggiator! |
