Farrar, Straus and Giroux

American publisher founded in 1946 as Farrar, Straus by Roger W. Straus, Jr. and John C. Farrar, based in New York City, New York. The company name was changed to Farrar, Straus and Young between 1952 until 1954. Again the name was changed, this time to Farrar, Straus and Cudahy from 1955 until 1962. Finally, the name was changed to Farrar, Straus and Giroux. FSG is known for publishing literary books, and its authors have won numerous awards, including Pulitzer Prizes, National Book Awards, and Nobel Peace Prizes. The publisher is currently a division of MacMillan, whose parent company is the German publishing conglomerate Holtzbrinck Publishing Group.
