American publishing company founded in 1925 by by Harold K. Guinzburg and George S. Oppenheim. Acquired by the Penguin Group in 1975, who continues to use the Viking name in various imprints. Incorporated as The Viking Press, Inc. on 13 March 1925, and renamed to Viking-Penguin, Inc. on 21 November 1975.
