Witold Lutosławski
Witold Roman Lutosławski (25 January 1913, in Warsaw – 7 February 1994, in Warsaw) was a Polish composer and one of the major figures of modern orchestral music. Inspired by John Cage's piano concerto he conceived a method of "controlled aleatorism", with his String Quartet from 1964 being a prime example of this technique.
