Wu Cheng'en
Wu Cheng'en (traditional Chinese: 吳承恩; simplified Chinese: 吴承恩), courtesy name Ruzhong (汝忠), was a Chinese novelist and poet of the Ming Dynasty, and is considered by many to be the author of 西遊記 (English: Journey to the West), one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Arthur Waley's popular abridged translation, Monkey, is well known in English-speaking countries.
