Claridge's
Famous hotel located on the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, London. Opened in 1812 as Mivart's Hotel it was sold to the neighbouring Claridge family in 1854. Sold to Richard D'Oyle Carte, owner of the rival Savoy Hotel, in 1894 who demolished the old buildings and replaced them with the present ones which hold Grade II Listed status. In its first edition of 1878, Baedeker's London listed Claridge's as "The first hotel in London".
