Sherlock Holmes

Fictional private detective created by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Traditionally, the canon consists of four novels and 56 short stories, but Doyle also wrote a number of vignettes, play adaptations and essays featuring Holmes. Since his death, many other authors have continued writing about Holmes.
