Зинаида Анатольевна Бобырь

Russian/Soviet translator. Born in 1912, died in 1988. Best known for her translatinos from English, Polish and French. She knew 12 foreign languages. Largely known for her translations of works by Isaac Asimov, Edmond Hamilton, J.R.R.Tolkien, (The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again), Stanislav Lem (some stories, Dzienniki gwiazdowe) and others. In the 1930s she graduated from the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology, since 1943 she was an employee of the magazine “Tekhnika Molodezhi”, where her translations were published. Fluent in twelve foreign languages. In total, Zinaida Bobyr translated several hundred works (mostly short stories) by science fiction writers from many countries.
